Obituary

William Anderson Stapleton Jr., 84, passed away May 18, 2025 at his home in Belpre, surrounded by his family.

William Anderson Stapleton JR. lived a full and fulfilling life of service, love and joy. He grew up on the farm in Belpre Kansas and spent many years working the land that God created. He also spent 32 years in service at Greensburg and Lewis public schools. He took great joy in helping shape the lives of many kids. He greatly cherished his time in Greensburg and Lewis schools but felt that he was being called to something more. Following his retirement from his service in the school he entered into full-time ministry. He spent 16 years in full-time ministry and then retired from full-time ministry in 2011. He then continued filling the pulpit for other small churches around his home. Bill was a member of Emmaus and enjoyed reading, traveling, sports, singing with the Promissory Notes and the Impromtwos.

On August 8, 1964 he married Diana Mae Weber at WaKeeney, Kansas; she survives.

Bill and Diana adopted 6 kids or as he would say they chose their 6 kids. He loved his family, and he enjoyed watching his family grow in numbers. He loved to go and support his kids and grandkids in whatever endeavor they had going on in their life. There was nothing that Bill would not and did not do for his family and friends. Bill humbly served those who God put in his path of life.

Other survivors include: six children, Mike (Patty) Stapleton, Garden City, Sandra (Bryant) Kurth, Offerle, Adena Stapleton, Belpre, Mary (Lance) Duft, Larned, Ted (Crystal) Stapleton, Stockton, Jamie Stapleton; brother, Jerry (Terie) Stapleton, Belpre; eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Anderson and Clara Nancy Plowman Stapleton Sr.; infant brother, Larry Dean Stapleton; mother and father-in-law, Mike and Elizabeth Weber; and two grandsons, Eric Effenbeck and Ty Stapleton.
